The Messy Project!

It's HERE!!!

The Messy Project

July 18th is finally here and I am finally able to share a really really fun project I have been blessed to be a part of for the last month!

I know you've seen the button, have seen the tweets, and have read a time or two about
The Messy Project! Well the day has finally arrived to share it with all of you!

I am sure y'all are wondering what The Messy Project really is...
Here goes...

The awesome thing about fashion and making it our own is that we can all look at a blouse, skirt, or even a pair of shoes and wear and style it the way our fashion sense tells us to. Because of our own personal style we can wear the same thing as the next person but yet look completely different! It is what makes us all unique and allows us to be our own Rachel Zoe.

Kelly over at Messy.Dirty.Hair developed The Messy Project for several reasons. One being, the gal is a true fashionista at heart and wanted to do something different than any other blogger. Two, she wanted to put, not only her creative mind to work, but several other blogger buddies minds as well. And Lastly, she wanted to show our readers and fans that our own personal style no matter the type can ALL look fabulous.

The Project:

1 Blouse
5 Bloggin' Buddies
5 Different Styles
1 HUGE Blog Post Party

Kelly picked out this top for all five of us gals to wear for The Messy Project. We were told to do whatever we wanted with the top! Wear and style it how we would if we had bought it ourselves! There were no rules!

I spend a lot of time at work and decided that making this top work appropriate would be my goal! Because of it's sheerness I put a black tank under it, paired it with a black A-line skirt, black pointy toe pumps and my infamous goes-with-everything black Coach purse. Yes, a lot of black but in a corporate environment you want to keep things as professional looking as possible. Plus, with a blouse of this color, the black plays it down and keeps it from being too loud in an office environment!

As far as jewelry, I just wore simple silver. I added 2 bangles and 2 other bracelets to my watch wrist and wore silver dangled earrings. I'm all about simplicity and tend to shy away from loud jewelry especially at work.

What do y'all think?!

I know you want to see how the other four gals styled their shirts! So give them a visit and check them out! They all turned out freaking stellar! And I have a new found love for each of these gorgeous ladies!

I have to thank Kelly for putting this all together and creating such a fun and unique blogging event!! She did so much of the hard work, like shopping, mailing, and organizing it all! You ROCK girlfriend!!

And thank you loves for hanging in there as we worked on this surprise project! I really hoped you all enjoyed it! Kelly will be doing this monthly so if you want to participate in the next event be sure to let her know!!!

Hope you all are having the most fabulous Wednesday!!! Half of the week down, Half of the week to go! Sounds good to me!!

50 Shades of Mint

Like the title?! I find it humorous considering I finally succumbed to 50 Shades of Grey! All I can say is wow!!

Since I do not currently have my nose stuck in the book trying to figure out all this intensity that is Ana and Christian, I’ve been obsessing over the color Mint! Oh this color is to die for and I can’t wait to pick up a few pieces for my wardrobe! Maybe even something for our Anniversary photo session in Charleston!!

Enjoy Lovlies!!!

Khaki Short Change Up!

Now that it is getting incredibly warm and we are all starting to break out our tank tops, short sleeves, and sandals, I figured I'd do a little post on several different ways to wear khaki shorts. I'm not a huge fan of jean shorts. This could be due to my age and that I associate them with teenagers OR that I can't ever seem to find a modest length that doesn't make me look like I walked out of the Dukes of Hazard. I do, however, love khaki shorts and I'm hoping to venture into the colored world of khaki this summer! That is brave for me considering I hate shopping and feel I can't pull stylish looks off. Below are some good ole khaki looks, classic with a twist of trendy, polished with a twist of sass!

Source: polyvore.com via Lauran on Pinterest

I love the option to dress them up with wedges and/or shiny gold jewelry and mix pearls with a bit of casualness! I hoping to recreate  these looks and have something fun to wear to bbqs, date nights, and ball games this summer!! There is just something so classic about a khaki short! I looove them!

Hope you beauties are having a marvelous day! Only one more day til the weekend!! In the words of Vicki Gunvalson ~ Wooooohooooo! See y'all tomorrow!!

Throw Together Thursday

For the past several months I have been totally disgusted with my closet! I want nothing more than to take every item of clothing (this does not include my shoes) and donate it all! Now, you may wonder, “Why not just go shopping and pick out some new pieces”? Allow me to explain further why that is not a simple task for me.

Shopping for clothes stresses me out, and when I say stress, I mean leave-the-mall-75-percent-of-the-time-in-tears! I don’t have the type of body that allows me to just pick up things without trying them on because I know, regardless of the item, it will not look good on me! Because of this slight problem I have to try on clothes in the store, which in those awful dressing room mirrors, always looks like…crap. Pants tend to be too tight around my middle and too loose in the thighs or vice versa and I constantly have to battle with blouses that don’t show off the “gals” too much but also don’t make me look like a nun! I think this is why the majority of the time, my “go to” are dresses, but who wants to wear a dress in the middle of winter?! Not I! Needless to say, shopping inhibits me from loving my body and I usually leave the mall in a state of depression that can last several days!

Here comes Pinterest and Polyvore to the rescue! I try to post inspirational outfits that include pieces I may already have in my closet! It has helped me greatly when I’ve been in a pinch of “I don’t know what to wear”. It helps me appreciate my clothes when I can find new ways to wear them!

For today’s Throw Together outfit, I created an outfit in my head from pieces I had in my closet, found similar pieces on Polyvore, created a board and WA-LAH, Throw Together Thursday’s work attire to the rescue! Check out my Polyvore board below!
What Im wearing Today

Now check out my own outfit! (Don't mind the lack of makeup and hairstyle)
Magenta Cardigan – George Line {Walmart}(Bought so long ago when I was on a tight budget that I don’t even know if Wally World carries the line anymore), Ivory lace Camisole – Apt. 9 Line {Kohl’s}, Black Capri Slacks – {Express}, Zebra printed belt – {Rue21}, Black w/ Silver Logo Reva Ballet Flats – Tory Burch {Nordstroms}, Fossil Watch – {Fossil}, Sterling Silver Ball earrings – {Bought them so long ago I can’t remember where}, Diamond Solitaire Earrings – {Gift from the Hubby}, Ring – {Premier Design Jewelry}, Necklace – {Leslie Jewett Design}, Black Leather Purse – {Coach}

Hope you lovely housewives are having a oh-so-lovely day!!!
