What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy HUMP DAY {Nikki B. that's all for you}, actually it's for everyone but Nikki appreciates my capital letters and we enjoy inappropriate innuendos! I hope you all are having fabulous weeks so far! My week has been pretty darn stellar and I'm very much looking forward to our weekend coming up!!! What are y'all loving this week?! Well, here is what I'm loving!

1. The fall temperatures we have been experiencing this week in ole Hampton Roads! Today is supposed to be in the lower 80's but yesterday and Monday the temps were in the 70's and it was AMAZEBALLS! The mornings have actually been chilly and I had to use my seat warmers today in the ride!
It doesnt look like this yet.... but I cant wait till it does!
2. My blate last night with Ashlyn from Let it Be Beautiful! Love this girl to pieces! We enjoyed Starbucks, chatted about life, talked about design options for my new blog, and grabbed Chipotle for dinner! We may or may not have had to divert ourselves away from a drunken wacko too! Perfect little gals date night if I do say so myself minus that wack job though!

3. Reflecting on 9/11. I failed to write a post yesterday, because I just didn't know what to say. I wanted it to be a tribute to 9/11 but every time I went to write, I just couldn't form the words. So instead I spent the day reading everyone else's reflections, watching recaps of that tragic event that changed our history books, and reading news article after article. I still cry reading, watching and hearing about it. I still remember where I was when it happened. I still pray for all of those who were effected by this horrible insane event. I am an emotional person as it is and this literally can send me over the edge to the point that I had to turn off the Today show and take a break from reading every one's personal reflections. Every one's words for amazing and beautiful and beyond reflective and honoring to such a history changing event!

4. My current read, Amazing Gracie. I'm pretty sure this book will send me into tears at some point, as it kind of already has. It's another inspiring doggy story and I can't wait to read more! The first night I started I couldn't put it down! Gracie is a deaf, albino, Great Dane, and this is a story about how she inspired those around her! How could you not enjoy a read like that?

5. Baby Reef's first day of school! Yes, we enrolled Reef in doggie daycare last week and his first day was today! We only have him scheduled for once a week which I think will be good to start with. We are not sure if we will increase it or not... maybe later on in the coming months. Who knows?! He seemed really excited when we got there and they took him to the back so fast, I hardly had time to say goodbye! Probably a good thing as I got teary eyed {once again} when I got in the car! I hope he is having a blast and making new friends! I can't wait to pick him up after work and hear all about how he did!

On his way to his first day of school!

Today, We are all HOKIES!

Today marks five years since the horrific events that put Virginia Tech on everyone’s televisions and in everyone’s prayers. Five Years?! I still remember where I was when the news first hit the air and I will never ever forget the emotions and worry that filled my entire body and heart!

During my college application process {way back in 2003} while in high school, I wanted nothing more than to be a Virginia Tech Hokie. I wanted to rock the maroon and orange, I wanted to jump up and down to "Enter Sandman" at football games, I wanted to be a part of a HUGE but yet close knit University! I wanted every bit of it, however, for reasons unknown, it wasn’t in the plan for my life to attend there. I was devastated! I had the grades and extra curricular activities, but my SAT scores were not the most impressive {my reasoning for not getting that HUGE acceptance package in the mail}. I quickly had to get over my sadness and choose another school, but I always had a special place in my heart for the Hokies. The hubby is also a huge fan and we have a ton of VA Tech memorabilia in our front room office not to mention we have had lots of friends attend there as well!

I was sitting in the Webb Center on Old Dominion University’s campus during my first semester as a transfer student that fateful morning. There were flat screens in the area I was studying, in which immediately caught my attention with the breaking news. I felt my heart sank. There were many people I knew on that campus and all I could think about was if they were safe and out of harms way. I immediately called my hubby (then of course he was my boyfriend). Then I started checking Facebook to see if our friends were leaving statuses of their well being. I don’t think I put my phone down that day until we had heard some kind of communication from our friends. They were all okay physically, but obviously being in that horrible situation you can’t be okay mentally. My heart ached for our friends, for the entire VA Tech student body, and for those who were involved and lost their lives.

Thinking about that terrible event still brings tears to my eyes. I am an emotional person in general, but NO ONE should have to lose their lives in that manner! So many students, teachers, and faculty, so much potential, so much more of their lives to live and it was all cut short in a blink of an eye. Their families were never able to say goodbye. How unfair life can be at times. The student body and their ability to come together in such a crisis and be there for one another was extremely touching to me! People with different backgrounds, beliefs, and views all came together to support one another. It just goes to show that good will always prevail over evil!
I hope for a moment you all can reflect back on those events today. Say a prayer for those families who had to deal with such an incredible loss as they will never ever be the same, no matter how many years go by. Say a prayer for Virginia Tech, for today we are ALL HOKIES.

No Longer MIA!!!

Well... HELLO THERE Blogging world!!! I have been MIA since before Christmas and I sincerely apologize for my absence in the journaling world!

So much has happened since I last wrote! I celebrated my 25th birthday, what a HUGE milestone to have reached! In February I got engaged to my amazing fiance and for the last several months we have been busy planning our June 2011 wedding! I also FINALLY graduated from college in May!! I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication with a Minor in Sport Management from Old Dominion University and made the Dean's List for the Spring 2010 semester! How amazing and excelerating my life has been!!!

The fiance and I have also been continuously working on our home! We just recently recarpeted the upstairs and laid wood laminate throughout all of downstairs! I will post some before and after pictures so yall can see the change it has made!! AMAZING to say the least! The house just feels much cleaner as well!

I suppose, now that I have more time for writing, I will continue to post about life in general, now just adding some wedding plans into the mix :) Not enough to tell all our huge celebration details because, of course, I want everyone to be surprised on our big day!

It feels great to be back in the blogging world and I can't wait to share more posts with all of you lovely real young housewives <3

And here is to the Fall Semester...

I am pretty sure that for the next month I will be extremely stressed, tired, emotional and overwhelmed! Here's to the end of the Fall Semester!

12/11 Communication Theory 10 Theory Cards
12/11 Communication Theory Exam III
12/15 Public Relations Final Exam
12/18 French Final Exam (the day after my 25th Birthday!)

Keep in mind I am working full time, hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house, and getting ready for the holidays, my birthday, and our 3 year dating anniversary! I definitely have a lot of work ahead of me and I am not looking forward to it! I am, however, looking forward to May 2010 when it will ALL be over with and I will finally have my Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Sport Management! Oh my that has a fabulous ring to it!

By the way... in the next month if you see me in public and it looks as though I have not gotten enough sleep or I am a bit snappy... the above schedule says it all!
