A Peak at our Christmas Card!

This is the second year that I have ordered Christmas cards featuring the boyfriend and I! Last year we had professional pictures taken on the beach and I was soooo happy with how they turned out! See below:

Christmas 2008

This year we ran out of time to get professional pictures taken, so I just used pictures we have taken together throughout this last year! I'm pretty excited about the cards this year and can't wait for them to arrive so I can start mailing them out :) Check it out below!

Christmas 2009

The cards are courtesy of VistaPrint and they have a variety of choices as well as super reasonable prices! You can upload your own pictures and type in your own greetings and messages! I also have ordered address labels off of the site too! They always ship fast, so if you still have not bought Christmas cards, check them out!!!

Releasing my Inner Teen!

My 25th birthday is in less than a month and I could not be more scared to reach a quarter of a century! Considering how "adult" I am and have to be, it is nice to release the inner teenager I sometimes wish I still could be! Twilight and the whole saga is a fabulous way for any woman to connect with her younger soul!

I never knew about Twilight until about a year and a half ago. It was late summer and I was driving in my car making a sales call (for my old job) when I heard Ryan Seacrest on one of our local radio stations, 94.9 The Point to be exact, asking readers to call in with their favorite parts of the book. I had NO idea what they were talking about and changed the station. About 2 months later I started to hear about it non-stop! I was not into the whole Vampire thing or Sci-fi stuff for that matter so I, once again, dismissed this craze! One evening as the boyfriend and I were grocery shopping in Wal-Mart, I was browsing the book section, looking for a new read when I saw the Twilight book was on sale for $6.00! Interested a bit about what the nonsense was all about I decided to buy it and low and behold COULD NOT put it down that night! I immediately went and bought the 2nd book New Moon the next evening! For the next too weeks I threw myself into the books, reading them whenever I had a free moment. I would end up staying up till 3 in the morning reading because I wanted to know what would happen next! My boyfriend thought I was a total nutcase!

I saw the movie Twilight twice and pre-ordered it when it came out on DVD. I ordered my ticket for the midnight showing a month 1/2 in advance for New Moon so I wouldn't have to deal with long lines and sold out shows! I just could not wait to see the next installment of such a dramatic love story!

I wore my "I <3 Boys Who Sparkle" shirt (which my boyfriend said I was a total dork for wearing), cried during the saddest scenes between Bella and Edward, admired Taylor Lautner's delicious bod, and left the theater in total anticipation for the 3rd movie! I have even decided to re-read New Moon, only because I felt that I could not remember certain parts! Needless to say I am a fan! I hope that everyone who is a fan was able to see the movie and enjoyed it as much as I did. Considering I will be a college graduate by the time Eclipse premiers, I will have time to plan the ultimate Twilight party with all my fellow fans! Expect invitations in the late spring! It will be another rare chance to release my inner teen!!!

I'll always be Team Edward... you can't fight what is meant to be!!

Ohhhhhh Yummm!

A Small Get-A-Way

I am not the only person in my life who has purchased a house recently. My best friend Erin and her Husband bought a house in the lovely countryside of Suffolk and my other best friend Kristen and her boyfriend Danny bought a house up in the busy area of Northern Virginia, more precisely in Burke. We all bought our houses within 2 1/2 months of each other! Can you tell we three are BFFs???

Kristen and Danny had their housewarming get-together this weekend so Todd and I drove up late late Friday night after I got off of work and spent the whole day yesterday with them as well as Erin, Chase, and their daughter Hayley! We went into D.C. had lunch at the National Art Cafe and then walked around to many of the monuments! Such a great time, just wish we had more time to spend with everyone! Here are a few pictures of us!

Since this was a Housewarming Weekend, of course I did not show up empty handed! For occasions such as Bachelorette Parties, Wedding Showers, Engagement Parties, and Housewarming Parties, I really like to create personal gifts. For this particular get-together, I bought 2 candle holders (which can also be used as vases), learned the colors of their living room, and created the candle holders to match! They are extremely inexpensive which is great considering I've got myself on a budget and the gift comes from the heart because time was spent on making it their very own! I got the idea from an Eclectic Boutique in Downtown Suffolk that sold platters, picture frames and an array of items with glass marbles glued onto them, however, they were extremely expensive and I could not see myself paying for something I could create on my own! Here are pictures of Kristen and Danny's Candle holders/ Vases:

I also paint on glasses as well. Wine glasses, beer mugs, platters, and other dishware! I love love love duo-grams (usually the bride and grooms first name initials and then their last name initial). If the gift is a wedding present, I will paint it in the bride and grooms wedding colors! I would create a blog for all the ones I have done, however I always forget to take pictures before I wrap them and don't have many! I am trying to debate whether I should start to sell these kinds of items! Hmmmm something to contemplate!

And here is to the Fall Semester...

I am pretty sure that for the next month I will be extremely stressed, tired, emotional and overwhelmed! Here's to the end of the Fall Semester!

Why must EVERY professor assign a HUGE presentation, paper, project, and/or test around the 1st of December?! This is how the next few weeks looks for me:

11/11 French quiz
11/17 Public Relations 3-4 page Film Analysis
11/17 Intercultural Communication 2-3 page Writing Assignment
11/17 My part of our Intercultural Communication power-point presentation due to my group members
11/21 Exit Writing Exam
11/24 Public Relations 2-3 page Case Study Critique
11/24 HUGE Intercultural Communication Exam II
12/1 Intercultural Communication 30 minute presentation
12/2 French quiz
12/7 Communication Theory 4 page research paper
12/8 Public Relations Evaluation Assignment
12/11 Communication Theory 10 Theory Cards
12/11 Communication Theory Exam III
12/15 Public Relations Final Exam
12/18 French Final Exam (the day after my 25th Birthday!)

Keep in mind I am working full time, hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house, and getting ready for the holidays, my birthday, and our 3 year dating anniversary! I definitely have a lot of work ahead of me and I am not looking forward to it! I am, however, looking forward to May 2010 when it will ALL be over with and I will finally have my Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Sport Management! Oh my that has a fabulous ring to it!

By the way... in the next month if you see me in public and it looks as though I have not gotten enough sleep or I am a bit snappy... the above schedule says it all!

Busy. Busy, Busy as a Bee!

I've been busy the last few days doing things for the house! The boyfriend did help me hang the blinds in the master bathroom Thursday night, however we still have not gotten the light fixtures up in the foyer and hallway. That is one of my many missions to get done this week!

In the office I decided that $20 per set was just waaaay too much for Holdbacks so I decided to create my own Tiebacks with sheer burgundy ribbon and thumbtacks, totaling the price to $3.00! Not too shabby looking right?!

As you can see, these are the faux white wood blinds as well! I can not wait to get them hung throughout the entire house! Our office is basically the boyfriend's room. All of our Virginia Tech memorbilla, his surfboards, college baseball stuff, and our diplomas will eventually be hung in here, hence why the curtains are a Burgundy and Nutmeg color!

Here are some pictures of the Master Bathroom Blinds:

I've been spray painting a white wicker trunk for the past 3 days! I think it is finally finished. Who knew it would take 4 cans of spray paint to tackle this thing?!

Still needs some touchups I do believe! And yes, I painted the brass fixtures on it because I had no way of unscrewing them because they had no screws and I did not have the patience to do anything else! They don't look that bad though!

The boyfriend and I got some yardwork done Friday afternoon. He cut the grass and raked the leaves in the front yard. I took the broom and knocked down the cobbwebs around the front porch and downstair windows and I swept the front porch and sidewalk as well as the back patio! Looks great!

I will leave you with a picture of the boyfriend raking! Something you won't see often ;)

New Jammies!

So I am trying to get out of the sleeping in T-shirts and sweats thing. I've decided that I need to start wearing night gowns (sounds so granny) instead! Check out the one I got below from Wal-Mart today! Only $11.00 bucks! Super cute and a great way to help make me feel attractive in the morning even when my hair is a mess and I have bags under my eyes!

It has little white polka dots and a eyelet lace trim around the bottom! I am so excited to sleep in it tonight!!

As for my evening, I have unpacked and condensed a few boxes that have been lingering around in the office. I've also vacuumed the majority of the downstairs and sprayed the perimeters of the rooms with Ortho Pest Control spray. We've had some issues with spiders and I am very much OVER THEM!! I bought the spray at Home Depot and heard it works very well! If not, then I guess I'll have to call in professionals!

I am currently trying to figure out where to put my 72 piece Christmas dishware and my grandmother's china that has been sitting wrapped up in a bin! I also have the urge to spray paint a white wicker trunk dark brown and find a place for it in our office. Once the boyfriend comes home from work I hope to hang the wood blinds in the bathroom and install the new light fixtures I bought today for the foyer and hallway. I have a feeling he is not going to be in the mood :) I'll tell you one thing... when I get motivated I really get a lot done!

Sleepless nights = browsing HomeDepot.com!

So Thursdays are my off days. I don't have to go to class or work, so I use the day to get a ton of things around the house done! However, Wednesday nights are becoming a headache! I have the great opportunity to go to bed at a decent hour and get a solid 8 hours of sleep, but I CAN NOT fall asleep, hence why I am blogging at this hour! I find myself searching the Home Depot and Lowe's websites for new stuff for the house as well as looking at ideas for our kitchen (because I have no idea what to do in there). Any-who, this is what I have come across tonight:

These are the light fixtures we have in our foyer and hallway! I absolutely hate them because 1. they are gold and 2. they cast a yellowish tinted light in the hallway making it a light green looking color! HIDEOUS!

The sliver one below is what I would like to replace them with! The coolest thing is they come in a 2 pack and its only priced at $15.97!!! Totally great since I am really trying to budget myself right now!

I also really like this chandelier for over our dining room table - but I need to figure out what I am going to do in that room as well. I think starting with a chandelier would def. help with some gathering some inspiration!

So I am super excited about heading to Home Depot tomorrow! Hopefully I will snag up a few goodies for the house!!

My first attempt....

This is my first attempt at posting a blog on my own blog. I am not exactly happy with my layout but when I have more time to search, I hope to find something I will like. So for now this is just a test!
